Zech. 6:9-15
Behold The Branch
Intro
I. THE COMING OF THE EXILES (vv. 9-11).
A. The nature of their visit (6:9-10).
B. The offering (6:11).
II. A CROWN FOR JOSHUA, THE HIGHPRIEST (vv. 11-14).
A. Zechariah was to place this crown on the head of Joshua the high priest.
B. WHY?
1) Priests could not be _________________.
2) The crown is placed on the head of the one called “Branch” (vv. 12-13), a well established designation for the Messiah – Isa. 4:2; 11:1; Jer. 23:5; 33:15; Zech. 3:8.
3) This crown is not for Joshua to keep and wear but is to be placed in the temple for a “_____________________ of the Lord” (v. 14).
4) In 3:8 Joshua and his friends are a “__________________”.
III. BEHOLD THE MAN WHOSE NAME IS BRANCH (vv. 12-13).
A. The Branch will branch out (v. 12).
B. The Branch is the Messianic Priest-King.
1) He is enthroned as the king (v. 13).
2) He is a priest (v. 13).
