Intro
The culture of death.
How is it defeated?
A. THE BREAKING OF LEGS (John 19:31-33, 36).
1) The day of preparation (v. 31).
2) “high day”, “special Sabbath” (v. 31).
3) The Jews wanted all those crucified dead before the Sabbath began (v. 31).
4) Jesus’ legs were not broken in fulfillment of Scripture (vv. 32-33, 36).
B. THE PIERCING OF JESUS’ SIDE (John 19:34-35, 37).
1) The piercing resulted in blood and water (v. 34).
2) The significance of the blood and water.
a) Wrong views.
b) Jesus was a real human.
c) Jesus really did die.
3) John’s eye witness (v. 35).
4) Jesus’ side was pierced in fulfillment of Scripture (v. 37).
