Loving Your Neighbor

 Intro

A. LOVE FOR GOD AND LOVE FOR NEIGHBOR.

1) Love for neighbor is linked to love for God.

2) Love for others reflects your love for God.  1 Jn. 4:20-21; 5:1.

B. LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR (Mark 12:31).

1) Why is it important?    1 Jn. 3:14; 4:7; Jn. 13:35.

2) Who is our neighbor?    Lk. 10:29-37.

3) How do we love others?

a) “as yourself.”

(1) Not modern psychological self-love.

(2) Biblical self-love.   Prov. 19:8; Eph. 5:28.

(3) Sinful self-love.

b) with Christ-like love

(1) A love that sacrifices.   1 Jn. 3:16; Jn. 15:13.

(2) A love that serves.   Mark 10:45

(3) A love that forgives.  1 Pet. 4:8

Conclusion

1. How does loving your neighbor reveal love for God?
2. How does loving God and our neighbor reveal that we are disciples of Jesus Christ?
3. Who qualifies to be your neighbor and how do we show them love?
4. Think of a neighbor that you need to show love to, then pray for an opportunity to do it.
