Mount Zion: A Better Mountain

 

Intro

 

 

A. MT. SINAI BRINGS FEAR AND JUDGMENT (12:18-21).

 

1) A mountain that can be touched –

 

 

2) Blazing fire, darkness, gloom, whirlwind, trumpet blast –

 

 

3) They could not bear to hear the word of God –

 

 

B. MT. ZION BRINGS HEAVEN AND SALVATION (12:22-24).

 

1) Mt. Zion –

 

 

2) City of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem –

 

 

3) Myriad of angels –

 

 

4) General assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven.

 

 

5) to God, the Judge of all.

 

 

6) to the spirits of the righteous made perfect –

 

 

7) to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant and to the sprinkled blood which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
