A. HEROD’S MASSACRE (Matthew 2:16).

1. Herod the serial killer.    

 

2. Victims: 2 years old and under.   

B. JEREMIAH IS FULFILLED (Matthew 2:17-18).

1. Jer. 31:15 and its context.  

a. Weeping

b. Return

c. New Covenant

2. The fulfillment of another type.     

C. THE RETURN OF JESUS TO NAZARETH (Matthew 2:19-23).

1. Angel’s message to Joseph (Matthew 2:19-21).

2. The reign of Archelaus caused Joseph to fear (Matthew 2:22a).    

3. Angel’s warning caused Joseph to settle in Nazareth (Matthew 2:22b-23).    

APPLICATIONS:

1. Great tragedies occur in a fallen world.  

 

 

2. Payday someday for the wicked.  

3. God is in control.     Ps. 2:1-4. 

4. God protects His own.
