Intro 

A. HOW TO RESPOND WHEN ATTACKED LEGALLY (Matthew 5:40).

1. Guilty?   

2. The regulations of the law.    Exodus. 22:26; Deuteronomy. 24:13,

3. If they take your shirt (inner garment), give them your coat (outer garment) also.

B. HOW TO RESPOND WHEN COERSED BY THE GOVERNMENT (Matthew 5:41).  

1. The Roman practice of conscription.   

2. The proper response.   

C. HOW TO RESPOND WHEN ASKED FOR SOMETHING (Matthew 5:42).  

1. It is assumed that the request is legitimate.   

2. The proper response is to have a generous heart.    Leviticus. 25:35; Deuteronomy. 15:7-8.
