- THE THINGS GODLY FATHERS AVOID
Col. 3:21 – “exasperate”
Eph. 6:4 - “Provoke your children to anger”
Obviously this does not mean that we never correct our kids or do things that upset, annoy, or make them angry. But this refers to:
1) When there is _______________ sternness.
2) Constant and hard demand for _____________.
3) Needless __________________.
4) When ____________________ is indulged and disparaging comparisons are drawn.
5) Excessive ____________________ or when done in anger.
6) When older children are still treated like _______________ children.
7) Breaking promises, not doing what we tell our children to do, not listening to them, making mistakes but not admitting it, we interrupt the children but scold them when they do it, we don’t try to understand them and their concerns. Overindulgence when parents are too permissive .
The consequences of our failure is that our children “lose heart” (Col. 3:21).
