II. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ANGELS –

Gabriel

1) to Zacharias about birth of John (Luke 1:11-20).

2) to Mary (Luke 1:26-38)

An angel of the Lord-

-appeared to Joseph in a dream – call His name _________ for He will save His people from their sins.? (Matthew 1:21).

– appeared to Joseph in a dream – go to Egypt (Matthew 2:13).

– warned Magi in a dream not to return to Herod (Matthew 2:12).

– told Joseph in Egypt that Herod was dead (Matthew 2:19).

– angel before shepherds – good news of a great joy (Luke 2:8-14).

III. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT –

– He overshadowed Mary (Matthew 1:18-20).

– Filled Elizabeth to prophecy a blessing on Mary (Luke 1:39-45).

– Caused baby John to leap in the womb for joy, Luke 1:41, 44.

– Moved Mary to give the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).

– Zacharias filled with HS – Sunrise from on high (Luke 1:67).

– Godly Simeon – a Light of revelation to the Gentiles, (Luke 1:25-32).

– Anna the 84 year old prophetess – blessed God (Luke 2:38).
