Intro
A. THE COMMANDMENT (John 15:12a).
1) demonstrates our love for God - Jn. 14:15; 15:10; 1 Jn. 4:7-8.
2) shows we are Christ’s disciples – Jn. 13:34-35.
3) we need to be reminded to love.
B. THE COMPARISON (John 15:12b-17).
“as I have loved you” -
1) Sacrificial love (John 15:13).
a) The quality of those for whom He died -
b) The quality of the death He died -
c) Application -
2) Friendship love (John 15:14-15).
a) conditional friendship (John 15:14).
b) friends share intimately (John 15:15).

3) Electing love (John 15:16-17).
a) This election is TWOFOLD:
b) purpose 1 – go out.
c) purpose 2 - to produce fruit that remains
d) purpose 3 – to pray prayers that are effectual.
