Obadiah – the Secret Disciple
Intro
- OBADIAH, THE STEWARD (1D8:3-4).
Obadiah means “servant of the Lord.” Not the prophet in the Minor Prophets.
1) Obadiah was over the household of Ahab.
2) Obadiah was a godly man. “He feared the Lord greatly” (v. 3).
What a marvelous surprise.
I’m sure his soul was daily vexed.
3) Obadiah’s courageous ministry.
Application: Good people in bad places.
- OBADIAH AND AHAB (18:5-6).
1) The concern of the king (vv. 5-6).
2) The contrast with Obadiah.
- OBADIAH AND ELIJAH (18:7-16).
1) Obadiah’s concern (18:8-16).
2) Obadiah, the secret disciple.
- a) The nature of his witness: public or private?
- b) Other secret disciples: Phil. 4:22; John 19:38.
Obadiah was a secret disciple, but not a static disciple.
- c) God uses all kinds of believers to accomplish His will.
Maybe you are an Obadiah?
