THE PRINCIPLE OF SPIRITUAL SUICIDE (3:5-7).
Is there inconsistency with Paul?

 

What is spiritual suicide?

1) It is the killing of sin in our life. Cf. Mt. 5:29-30.

2) How do we kill sin?

a) Take the life out of the sin, by saying NO to it.
b) Rely upon the Spirit. Rom. 8:13
c) Must be a repeated event. Gal. 5:17

 

What is to be put to death?These sins are generally sexual sins and greed.

Immorality –

Impurity –

Passion –

Evil desire –

Greed/idolatry –

 

Why should we commit spiritual suicide on these sins?

1) The wrath of God (v. 6

2) Keep the past in the past (v. 7).

 

THE PRINCIPLE OF SPIRITUAL DISROBING (3:8-9).

The word “put them all aside” refers to taking off a garment and discarding it.

 

How do we throw off these sins?
What sins should be cast from us?

Anger –

Malice –

Slander –

Abusive speech –

Lying –

CONCLUSION
