Intro

A. HAZOR’S COALITION (Joshua 11:1-5).

1. Hazor was the most powerful city state in the region.

2. The coalition is numerous and powerful (Joshua 11:2-4).

3. The coalition is assembled at the waters of Merom (Joshua 11:5).

B. YAHWEH’S COMMAND (Joshua 11:6).

1. Exhortation:  do not be afraid.

2. Promise: I will slay them all tomorrow

3. Instruction: hamstring the horses and burn their chariots

C. JOSHUA’S CAMPAIGN (Joshua 11:7-23).

1. The surprise attack (Joshua 11:7-9).    

2. The capture of the cities (Joshua 11:10-15). 

3. Summary of the northern conquest (Joshua 11:16-18).

4. The divine hardening (Joshua 11:19-20).

5. The defeat of the Anakim (Joshua 11:21-23).     

D. ISRAEL’S CONFIDENCE.

1. Why all the details on the coalition and their numbers and strength? (Joshua 11:1-4).
