A. THE NAMES AND TITLES FOR JESUS (Matthew 1:1).

B. A WALK THROUGH THE GENEALOGY (Matthew 1:2-16).

1. First section (Matthew 1:2-6).

a. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah.

B. THE THEMES FROM THE GENEALOGY.

1. Why the emphasis on “fourteen” (Matthew 1:17)?   

2. Full of sinners to highlight the grace of God.  

3. Jesus is qualified to be the Messiah as a son of David.  God is faithful!

4. Lays foundation for the virgin birth of Jesus (Matthew 1:16).

5. The three phases of history.  OUT OF DARKNESS, LIGHT!
