The Marks of the True Shepherd
Intro
A. HE ENTERS THE RIGHT WAY (John 10:1-2).
1) Imagery.
2) The thief does not enter by the door (John 10:1).
3) The shepherd enters by the door (John 10:2).
B. HE IS RECOGNIZED BY THE RIGHT ONES (John 10:3-4a).
1) He is recognized by the doorkeeper (John 10:3a).
2) He is recognized by the sheep (John 10:3b-4a).
The sheep hear his voice (John 10:3) –
He calls his own sheep by name (John 10:3) –
He leads them out (John 10:3c-4a)-
C. HE IS FOLLOWED BY THE RIGHT SHEEP (John 10:4-6).
1) The sheep follow because they know his voice (John 10:4b).
2) The sheep will not follow strangers (John 10:5).
3) The Pharisees did not understand (John 10:6).
