Intro

A. THE TIMING OF JOB’S RESTORATION (Job 42:10).

1. Job’s restoration occurred when he prayed for his friends (Job 42:10).

2. God’s gifts are often tied to our godliness. Mt. 6:12-14; Col. 3:13

B. THE TWO-FOLD RESTORATION OF JOB (Job 42:10-17).

1. Fortunes restored twofold (Job 42:10).

2. Fellowship with his family and friends was restored (Job 42:11).

3. Details of his restoration (Job 42:12-15).

a. 14,000 sheep; 6,000 camels; 1000 yoke of oxen; 1000 female donkeys (Job 42:12).

b. 7 sons, 3 daughters. (Job 42:13-15).

c. Job lived an additional 140 years

C. THE FINAL PARALLEL WITH CHRIST.

1. Job’s restoration is like a resurrection.

2. Summary of Job’s life as a type of Christ

a. A blameless man. Job 1:8

b. God’s decree to send suffering upon an innocent man.

c. Satan bruises the heel of the seed of the woman. Gen. 3:15

d. Job was falsely accused of sin.

e. Job persevered in faith. Job 13:15

f. Job acted like a priest and mediator for his friends. Job 42:8

g. Job was gloriously restored.
