Intro
FAMINE IN THE LAND (4:38a).
1) Famine, the curse of God (Lev. 26:20, 26; Deut. 28:24, 38-40).
2) The remnant not exempted from suffering.
3) It is hard to identify with a lack of food.
THE DEADLY STEW MADE HARMLESS (4:38b-41).
1) Elisha orders stew (v. 38).
2) “There is death in the pot” (vv. 39-40).
3) Flour power?
4) Truth: the Lord provided for His remnant their daily food.
MULTIPLYING THE LOAVES OF BARLEY (4:42-44).
1) Twenty barley loaves and ears of grain.
2) Our deficiencies + God’s promise = an abundance.
3) Christ is greater than Elisha.
