A. CHRIST AND THE COVENENANT OF REDEMPTION.

1. We must begin with what happened before Gen. 1:1.

2. Biblical evidence for the Eternal Covenant of Redemption.

a) The pre-existence and deity of Christ –  Jn. 1:1. 

b) The Father’s election –  Eph. 1:4

c) The promise of eternal life in the gospel –  Titus 1:2

d) The mystery of the wisdom of the gospel – 1Cor. 2:7; Eph. 3:8-10

e) Christ’s incarnation –  Mic. 5:2

f) Atoning blood of the cross –  Rev. 13:8; 1Pet. 1:18-20; Acts 2:23; 4:27; Heb. 13:20

g) Grace to apply salvation to us –  2Tim. 1:9

h) Our predestination to glorification – 8:29-30

i) The eternal glory of the Son – John 17:5, 24.

3) What is the Eternal Covenant of Redemption?

a) The “Economic Trinity.”

b) Who were the objects of this covenant?

c) And what are the motives of this covenant:   Eph. 1:3-14
