Evidence of the New Birth 
               Intro 
               A. THE EVIDENCE OF THE NEW BIRTH.

1) The wind analogy (Jn. 3:8).

2) A reason for the evidence.

3) The importance of their being EVIDENCE of the new birth.

               B. THE EVIDENCE EXAMINED. 

1) keep God’s commandments (1 Jn. 2:3).

2) do righteousness (1 Jn. 2:29).

                  Present tense – ongoing action in present; 

                  perfect tense – completed past event with results in present.

                 The perfect tense in this relationship gives us the ­­­­­­­_________, and the present tense the ___________.  

3) do not commit sin (1 Jn. 3:9).

4) love the brethren (1 Jn. 4:7).

5) believe that Jesus is the Christ (1 Jn. 5:1).

C. THE BATTLE OF THE TWO NATURES 

1) There is a constant struggle between the flesh and the Spirit Gal. 5:17.
