A. CERTAINTY OF OUR SALVATION (1 Thess. 5:9a).

1. The word “destined.”

2. “not destined for wrath” –

3. “destined for salvation” –

a. appointed by sovereign grace.

b. salvation = future glory.

B. MEANS OF OUR SALVATION (1 Thess. 5:9b-10).

1. “through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thess. 5:9b).

2. “who died for us” (1 Thess. 5:10).

a. sacrifice – “who died” –

b. substitution – “for us” –

c. satisfaction – Isa. 53:11

C. GOAL OF OUR SALVATION (1 Thess. 5:10b).

1. “live together with Him.”

2. No matter our circumstances: awake or asleep.

D. COMFORT OF OUR SALVATION (1 Thess. 5:11).

1. Comfort one another.

2. Build up one another.
