Lk. 24:1-12
“He has risen!”
Intro
A. WHO CAME TO THE TOMB? (Luke 24:1).
1. They “they” refer to the women. 23:55-56.
2. The apostles were not there.
B. WHO ROLLED AWAY THE STONE? (Luke 24:2).
1. Not the women for it was an “extremely large” stone (Mk. 16:4).
2. Matt. 28:2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.
3. Why roll away the stone?
C. THE WOMEN ENCOUNTER THE ANGELS (Luke 24:3-8).
1. The women entered the tomb but found no body (Luke 24:3).
2. Two men in dazzling clothing suddenly appeared (Luke 24:4-5).
3. “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?” (Luke 24:5).
4. “He is not here, but He has risen.” (Luke 24:6).
5. Remember the Lord’s words (Luke 24:6-8).
D. THE WOMEN’S REPORT (Luke 24:9-12).
1. The women tell the eleven and all the rest (Luke 24:9-10).
2. The apostles were unbelieving (Luke 24:11).
3. Peter ran to inspect the tomb (Luke 24:12).
E. CHRIST APPEARS TO THE APOSTLES (Luke 24:33-47).
1. The two disciples returned from Emmaus and give their report (Luke 24:33-35).
2. Jesus appears but the disciples doubt it is Jesus (Luke 24:36-37).
3. Jesus proves He is risen from the dead (Luke 24:38-47).
a. Physical evidence (Luke 24:38-43).
b. Scriptural evidence (Luke 24:44-47).
