Hypocrisy in Giving

Intro 

A.  GENERAL PRINCIPLE: HYPOCRISY IS BAD (Matthew 6:1).      

1.  “Beware” – 

2.  The danger: “practicing your righteousness before men to be seen by them.”     

a. What is a hypocrite (Matthew 6:2)?   

b. What is the motive of the hypocrite? 

3. No reward with your Father in heaven.  

B. UNGODLY GIVING TO THE POOR (Matthew 6:2).

1. “When you give” –  

2. Do not sound a trumpet as the hypocrites do.  

3. The desire to be honored by men. 

4. They have their reward in full.  

C. GODLY GIVING TO THE POOR (Matthew 6:3-4).

1. “When you give to the poor” – 

2.  Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (Matthew 6:3).  

3. Give in secret (Matthew 6:3).    

4. Your Father will reward you (Matthew 6:4).
