Intro
A. THE NEED FOR REFORMATION.
1. The reign of Manasseh and Amon (2 Kings 21).
2. Josiah’s reign (2 Kings 22 - 23:30).
B. THE CAUSE OF REFORMATION.
1. Josiah became king at age 8 (2 Kings 22:1-2).
2. Josiah begins physical repairs to the temple (2 Kings 22:3-7).
3. A marvelous discovery (2 Kings 22:8-10).
4. The response of the king.
a. Repentance (2 Kings 22:11, 19).
b. Inquires of the Lord (2 Kings 22:12-20).
c. Public reading of the law (23:1-2).
d. Covenant with the Lord (23:3).
e. Removal of all idols (23:4-20).
f. Re-instituted the Passover (23:21-23).
C. THE END OF REFORMATION
1. God’s judgment for Manasseh’s evil was only postponed (23:26-27).
2. Josiah is killed by Pharoah Neco (23:29).
3. Jehoahaz did evil in the sight of the Lord (23:31-32).
D. PRINCIPLES FOR REFORMATION.
1. Revelation precedes reformation and revival.
2. Be doers of the Word not hearers only. Jas. 1:22.
