Intro
A. THE GOSPEL EFFECTS (Acts 2:37).
1. Conviction (Acts 2:37). “Pierced to the heart”.
2. Inquiry (Acts 2:37). “Brethren, what shall we do?”
B. THE GOSPEL COMMANDS (Acts 2:38, 40).
1. Repentance (Acts 2:38).
2. Baptism (Acts 2:38).
a. Background.
b. Manner.
c. Identity.
d. Importance. NOT essential for salvation.
(1) If this was the case, why did Peter fail to mention the requirement of baptism in his other sermons???? Acts 3:19; 5:31; 10:43,
(2) The syntax.
3. “Be Saved from this perverse generation” (Acts 2:40).
C. THE GOSPEL GIFTS (Acts 2:38-39).
1. The forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38).
2. The Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
3. The Recipients of the promise (Acts 2:39). Described by:
a. Race - “for you and your children” -
b. Place - “for all who are far off” -
c. Grace - “as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself
D. THE GOSPEL COMMUNITY (Acts 2:41-47).
1. 3,000 saved (Acts 2:40-41).
2. Jesus is creating His new covenant people out of the ashes of Old Covenant Israel.
Conclusion
