The Power of the Holy Spirit
Intro
A. THE ARREST (Acts 4:1-4).
1. Priests.
2. The captain of the temple guard.
3. The Sadducees.
4. Jail time (Acts 4:2-3).
B. THE INTERROGATION (Acts 4:5-7).
1. The Sanhedrin convenes (Acts 4:5-6) -
2. Question - “By what power or in what name, have you done this?” (Acts 4:7).
C. THE DEFENSE (Acts 4:8-12).
1. Filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:8).
2. Healing by the name of the risen Jesus Christ (Acts 4:9-10).
a. Was the lame man in jail too (Acts 4:10, 14)?
b. The healing name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10).
c. The Jews are guilty of crucifying Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10).
3. Scripture support (Acts 4:11; cf. Ps. 118:22).
a. Their folly revealed.
b. God’s plan is triumphant.
4. Salvation only in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).
APPLICATION
1. Don’t be intimidated.
2. Don’t be silent.
