Why the Resurrection?
Intro

1) Jesus died for our sins on the cross.

2) Jesus was buried.

3) Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.

A. TO CONFIRM HIS POWER (Jn. 10:17-18). 

John 10:17 “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. John 10:18 “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

B. TO CONSUMMATE HIS PURCHASE (Rom. 4:25). 

Rom. 4:25 He who was delivered up because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.

C. TO CONFORM US TO HIS PERFECTIONS (PHIL. 3:20-21).

Phil. 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; Phil. 3:21 who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
