Ahab’s Covetousness
INTRO
- AHAB’S SIN OF COVETOUSNESS.
- WHAT IS COVETOUSNESS?
1) Coveting is a sin.
Deut. 5:21 ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
2) What is the sin of coveting?
- a) Coveting is defined in the dictionary as –
an inappropriate desire for what belongs to another; or an excessive desire to obtain something of this world: wealth, power, prestige, property or material things.
- b) Coveting is equal to _________________, 5:5.
3) Coveting is a heart sin.
4) Others sins caused by the sin of coveting:
- a) stealing from man.
- b) stealing from God.
- c) lying to God and man.
- d) excessive hoarding.
- e) excessive buying.
5) How the sin of covetousness develops:
1) the eye (he saw the vineyard).
2) the heart (he desired it).
3) the hand (through Jezebel’s evil plot, he took it).
6) The cure for covetousness is__________________.
- NABOTH’S REFUSAL (V. 3).

- God’s justice: PAYDAY IS COMING (vv. 17-24) .
1) Ahab and Jezebel and all of Ahab’s descendants will die.
2) Why does God not intervene to stop the wicked?
- God’s incredible mercy (vv. 25-29).
