Intro

OUR WALK IN CHRIST (v. 6).
When we came to faith in Christ, we received Him as

CHRIST –

JESUS –

LORD –

What is spiritual walking?

IS BASED ON A SOLID PAST FOUNDATION (v. 7).
“firmly rooted”-perfect passive ptcp.
Those easily lead astray are not firmly rooted.

III. AND ON A PRESENT SPIRITUAL BUILDING PROGRAM (v. 7).

“Built up in Him” – present pass. ptcp. – as a temple or house is built on a foundation
“Established in your faith”- present passive ptcp.

1) So what is faith? Heb. 11:1

2) Why is faith so important in the Christian life?

3) How become established in our faith?

Prayer (Lk. 17:5).

Scripture (Rom. 10:17); cf. Col. 2:7.

Humility (Mt. 8:10 ; Mt. 15:28).

“Abounding in gratitude” – present active ptcp.

1) Thanksgiving is both a mark and an aid to growing faith.

2) “Abounding” or overflowing, like a river overflows its bank.
